IPCC-62 opens in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China
On 24 February, the 62nd Session of the the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)(hereinafter referred to as the Session) opens in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China. Government delegations, representatives of observer organizations and international organizations, and IPCC Bureau members from more than 130 countries participated in the Session.
At the Session, the panel?will consider?the outline of the three Working Group contributions of?the IPCC Seventh Assessment Report, and also the outline of the Methodology Report on the Carbon Dioxide Removal Technologies, and Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage.
IPCC, a platform that brings together the collective strength and contributions of scientists worldwide, plays a vital role in providing scientific support for the international community's efforts to address climate change. Since the start of this seventh assessment cycle just 18 months ago, IPCC has?made important and steady progresses.
Over the past 37 years, China, as an active contributor to the IPCC’s assessment reports and a diligent practitioner inaddressing climate change?in a science-based manner, has continuously redoubled?its efforts in climate change?assessment, policy-making, and action planning.
The China Meteorological Administration, as the domestic leading agency for IPCC, has recommended numerous outstanding Chinese scientists, leveraged the strengths of various departments, and actively participated in all IPCC assessment?reports?and government approval. Over a hundred Chinese authors have contributed to report writing, and thousands of Chinese experts have participated in report reviews.
